Less than 2 years after the untimely death of guitarist/producer Phil
Bonnet, CHEER-ACCIDENT has finished work on its 9th album, Introducing
Lemon. Emboldened rather than diminished by the loss of Phil, the group
has grown roots from the seeds of its extensive history... recording,
performing and touring more voraciously than at any other period.
If there are two types of music, CHEER-ACCIDENT adeptly defies them both.
Informed by King Crimson, Led Zeppelin, Gentle Giant, Charles Ives, Miles
Davis, The Beatles, Steely Dan, Martin Mull, machines, insanity, people...
CHEER-ACCIDENT effortlessly makes transitions from hypnotic minimalist
drone to dissonant jazz improvisation to deconstructed progressive rock,
often during the course of a single song. And then, amidst these gestures,
intersperse light upbeat pop tunes, like sprigs of mint garnishing a daring,
multi-coursed meal.
Introducing Lemon features the broadest range of styles, influences and
instrumentation ever to appear on a CHEER-ACCIDENT record. Blazing riffs
and rock guitar. Moog, vibes and violin. Baritone sax leads to an infectious
horn-infested funk section. Riding, maniacal drum grooves and anti-grooves
share sonic space with down-home acoustic slide guitars. Trumpets, melodicas,
tack piano, flutes, tape collages. Bold upfront vocals. Introducing Lemon
is a special album.
Through its extensive and productive history CHEER-ACCIDENT continues
to perfect and expand its amphibious blend of well-crafted music, performance
and social experimentation. Love it or hate it, even love-to-hate it,
this is an unforgettable series of moments, a challenging and rewarding
encounter for anyone enticed by music that demands to be experienced.
Introducing Lemon is also available as a limited edition double album.
Each vinyl LP is pressed on 140 gram vinyl, comes packed in a lavish gatefold
sleeve and includes the CD format as a free bonus.

FUN FACT(S):
Clear, strong, avant-garde song architecture with integrity. Sonically
outstanding, recorded to 24-track tape (no Pro Tools!) in Studio A at
Electrical Audio with engineer Steve Albini. Captures the vibrancy and
dynamism CHEER-ACCIDENT exhibits live... Over-the-top, but not over-produced!
