Welcome to the SKiN GRAFT ELECTRONIC COMiX page!
Years before SKiN GRAFT started releasing music, SKIN GRAFT was a self-published punk-comic zine! Beginning back in 1986, Mark Fischer and Rob Syers started publishing their own comics inspired by the Do It Yourself attitude of punk rock. Armed with their instruments of choice, pen and paper, Rob and Mark spent countless hours hovering over self-service copy machines, running off their books in limited editions. Sold at St. Louis punk shows, the high school cafeteria, local record and comic shops and at comic book conventions, Skin Graft steadily gained a reputation as the bad boys of the self-publishing scene. As time went on, others would join the SKiN GRAFT comix crew, Jeff Bentle, Cody Hudson, Paul Nitsche, Sonny Rosenberg and others who contributed to SKiN GRAFT's annual comic "Jams", where various cartoonists would improvise stupid stories each trying to one-up the other guys previous panel. It's from this environment that two of SG's most enduring characters, Serious Brown and Hot Satan were spawned. In 1991, Caliber Press, reputed for publishing The Crow, contacted Mark and Rob about publishing a SKiN GRAFT comic for worldwide distribution. The two issues produced would become the best selling titles of their entire Iconografix line. Before a third issue was produced, focus shifted squarely on the record label. Nowadays, thanks to the internet, we're pleased to give you glimpse of some of these long out of print masterpieces, some excerpts from the comic book and record sets, and we'll even preview new stuff from time to time. So grab a Mountain Dew from the fridge, open a bag of potato chips and ENJOY!
