ITEM!: Chicago's Lovely Little Girls focus on the details; that bit of flab hanging over a waistband, those ill-fitting shoes that carve deeper with each step and that slight underbite - teetering between the lovely and the repugnant.

Lovely Little Girls are an avant-rock band directed by artist Gregory Jacobsen and bassist Alex Perkolup. Using Jacobsen's grotesque paintings as a starting point, Lovely Little Girls construct theatrical No-Wave suites that morph from of-kilter dance anthems to punishing and ridiculous progressive rock. Simple musical motifs quickly deform into charges of odd harmony and tangled polyrhythms, punctuated by syllable-stuffed cut-and-paste prose; and grounded in a love for catchy melodies – a gravy-encrusted GLEE for the regressive metal and free jazz set.

With “Cleaning the Filth From a Delicate Frame” the distressingly low-cut of Lovely Little Girls' jib has reached new heights. The band's latest recording and first for Skin Graft Records is a linear suite of songs that spin an abstract tale of birth, incompetent sex, over-ripe food and undignified death. Using multiple singers and different narrative voices, this is Lovely Little Girls' most cohesive work yet – a seven stage Théâtre de l'Absurde concept record.

ITEM!: Formed in 1998 by Yoshida Tatsuya, Japan's KOREKYOJINN (alternately spelled Korekyojin) is a progressive-jazz-rock band determined to redefine the polyrhythmic ensemble. The band's name translates to "This Giant", a sly pun inspired by THIS HEAT and GENTLE GIANT, two band's the group draws inspiration from. In Japanese the word "kore" translates as "this", while "kyojinn" is "giant".

Yoshida Tatsuya has proven himself a major force many times over in Japan's contemporary music scene. He is the founder of RUINS and KOENJIHYAKKEI, a member of ZENI GEVA, and has been cited by John Zorn as "[the] indisputable master drummer of the Japanese underground". In KOREKYOJINN, Yoshida joins BONDAGE FRUIT's guitar wizard Kido Natsuki and GROUND ZERO's legendary bassist Nasuno Mitsuru to demonstrate the limitless potential of the "power trio".

KOREKYOJINN is an All-Star ensemble, comprised of the greatest talent Tokyo's fervent Avant/Prog rock scene has to offer:

Yoshida has performed with ACID MOTHERS GONG, SAMLA MAMAS MANNA, ZENI GEVA, John Zorn's PAIN KILLER and is the founder of KOENJIHYAKKEI and RUINS / RUINS ALONE.

Kido is leader and guitarist of the phenomenal cult prog rock band BONDAGE FRUIT. His "progressive-tango band" SALLE GAVEAU performed at the "Rock in Opposition" Festival in 2007, shocking audiences across Europe.

Nasuno is renowned for his uncanny abilities in the critically acclaimed band ALTERED STATES and his experimental progressive rock outfit UNBELTIPO.

While the style of KOREKYOJINN will be recognizable to fans of Yoshida Tatsuya's other acts, the band has carved out a sound all its own. The trio dance on razors, are sharp as a tack - and their overwhelming ability jettisons them into the outer limits - where progressive rock and contemporary jazz collide into a breathtaking, futuristic, hard rock funk.

This is KOREKYOJINN's first appearance in Europe.

DOOMSDAY STUDENT
You know who these men are. They have been other men. Who they were before does not matter. What matters most is who they are now. These men, with two menacing guitars, violent drums, and wild words will fill that void in you. They will build bunkers out of your bones. They will make weapons out of your teeth. They will drink your tears and feed on your meat. All of this has been outlined, annotated and acted upon in "A Jumper's Handbook", the debut album by DOOMSDAY STUDENT, teaming three quarters of Arab On Radar with three quarters Chinese Stars, a pinch of Athletic Automaton and a dash Chrome Jackson for decidedly devastating results.

On The CHINESE STARS' third full-length release "Heaven On Speed Dial", the band delivers their own brand of rock n' roll justice, turning out dance music for white padded cells, themes from porno films yet to be made, lyrical groans from dark checkerboard floors, glow-in-the-dark rhythms and fierce undomesticated guitar thrashings. Filthy and raw, "Heaven On Speed Dial" comes complete with an MP3 download code of the record in its entirety and a lovely insert, hand screen printed in Rhode Island by Devil's Rainbow Printing.

Here's what "Dusted" had to say about the MIM / MICORWAVES seven inch: MADE IN MEXICO's "Charleston" splits the difference between a slow, cabaret-esque intro and a ratchety, Jaks-ish scrape, amidst the brassy-cum-hair pull shrieks of singer Rebecca Mitchell. The MICROWAVES know a thing or two about tension in music, laying down steady anxiety beats completely devoid of "feeling," as the guitars exchange alien metal riffs, spring-loaded and laser-guided with effects beyond the ken of normal "punk" or "metal" "axehandlers."

The opening reception will run from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. and will give folks a delicious taste of just what to expect on the sleeve of LOVELY LITTLE GIRLS' SKiN GRAFT Records debut.
