ABOUT MOUNT SHASTA: Mount Shasta took the blues of Leadbelly, the raw power of the Stooges, the soul of James Brown and the volume of twin jet engines - mashed 'em together and spit out an incomparable, infectious noise barrage. Imagine Bo-Didley on cough syrup.

The band formed in 1993 under the guidance of ex-Dirt / Phantom 309 vocalist & guitarist John Forbes. Bassist Jenny White and drummer Jason Benson rounded out the original trio. The "Nodule” 7” single and comic book set was released the same year and was followed by the “Put The Creep On” LP which featured Shorty / U.S. Maple vocalist Al Johnson on guitar and backing vocals. Their dissonant deluge of hard-blues, swamp-boogie, noise-rock was further refined when guitarist Carl Brueggen joined the band, as heard on the Shakuhachi Surprise collaboration with Tokyo's Space Streakings and the “Who’s The Hottie” and "Watch Out” LPs (one of the first albums recorded at Electrical Audio Studios, under the knob twirling of “Debbie” Albini). The group disbanded in 2000, but are survived by John Forbes' current band Tijuana Hercules.

Throughout their run, Mount Shasta was renowned for it’s striking artwork. The “Nodule” comic book sports the published debut of comic and micro-brewery hero, Gumballhead The Cat, who would go on to appear on many of the band’s T-shirts and album covers. This shirt reproduces SKiN GRAFT’s original Mount Shasta T-Shirt from cartoonist Rob Syers, highlighting Gumballhead’s self-destructive tendencies.

Here's what I mean - while we have the LPs and CDs in-stock and orders are shipping out lickety-split, the finished vinyl shipped from the pressing plant over three weeks late, making it impossible for Redeye Worldwide and our other distribution partners to have the LP in time to make the April 21st release date.
