Hi Everyone -
If you've been with us for a while, you may be familiar with multi-instrumentalist Thymme Jones from his bands' BRISE-GLACE, YONA-KIT or YOU FANTASTIC!. - Or maybe you remember the unbridled, kayfabe wrestling techniques he displayed at the (now legendary) OOPS(!) iNDOORS Festivals. Ring any bells? No? Well - then you most certainly know CHEER-ACCIDENT, right? Their landmark SKiN GRAFT double LP "Introducing Lemon" has been hailed as nothing short of the best album of the previous decade by some - and if you only just joined our team recently, you'll recall that late last year we brought out newly remastered editions of a pair of their century-turning platters - "Salad Days" and "Trading Balloons".

Hailing from SKiN GRAFT Records' birthplace, the singularly vibrant and occasionally violent musical hotbed of Chicago, CHEER-ACCIDENT has been a creative, vital force in rock music for over 30 years. They constantly strive to surprise their audiences and themselves through relentless reinvention. From dreamy pop to angular art-rock, CHEER-ACCIDENT strikes a powerful balance between personalized and unique studio wizardry and the visceral excitement of a well-honed, explosive live rock band.

Their body of work is unparalleled in its ambition and originality, and this next long-player of theirs demonstrates that now more than ever. Though the album opens and closes in “Kraut Pop” territory, that term does little to prepare the listener for the breadth of musical riches contained within. On “Fades” Thymme Jones, Jeff Libersher and Cheer-Accident’s core line-up are emboldened by a parade of musical guests - a 21st Century Wrecking Crew of the underground - whose contributions are absolutely dizzying.

Beautifully tortured guitars and distorted bass bump up against triumphant brass and melancholy strings on “The Mind-Body Experience”... in a performance equal parts creepy and empathic, the singular Dawn McCarthy (Faun Fables, Bonnie “Prince” Billy) sings about “Monsters”... while Bethany Schmitt (aka You Tube’s Hip Hop sensation "The Buttress") performs a frightening / surreal rap breakdown beside Nils Frykdahl (Free Salamander Exhibit) on “House Of Dowse”.

Additional vocalists include Sacha Mullin of Lovely Little Girls fame and Carla Kihlstedt of Sleepytime Gorilla Museum. Counted among the ranks of “Fades” best-in-class musicians are Katherine Young (“Bassoon colossus!” - The Wire), Julie Pomerleau (Bobby Conn) and engineer Todd Rittmann (Dead Rider, U.S. Maple) whose immaculate, nuanced production serves as the great unifier of Cheer-Accident’s most expansive, ambitious album to date.

CHEER-ACCIDENT "Fades" will be released Digitally, as a 12" vinyl LP, an MOD Compact Disc and is also available exclusively from SKiN GRAFT in a Deluxe Ultimate Edition that includes an MOD CD with two additional BONUS TRACKS and a colored vinyl 12" LP packaged in a crystal clear, resealable poly-bag with a collectible under-wrap OBI.

CHEER-ACCIDENT will be touring the West Coast and Midwest in support of “Fades” this Spring - and will perform at Seattle’s SEAPROG Festival this June alongside Free Salamander Exhibit and Faun Fables (members of which just so happen to be featured prominently on "Fades"!). ABOUT SPACE STREAKINGS:
The Boredoms, Shonen Knife and Pizzicato Five may get all the media attention, but there's a lot more to contemporary Japanese rock than that. With a cast that reads like a badly translated film festival - Captain Insect (bass, programming), Karate Condor (guitar, guitar synth, vocoder), Screaming Stomach (vocals, guitar, trumpet) and Kame Bazooka (vocals, sax, guitar) - Space Streakings creates hyper-speed meltdown noise, a thick hysterical barrage of galloping electronic percussion, horns, whistles, samples and shouted Japanese vocals, achieving a disjointed level of frenzy that suggests a flooding factory full of workers scrambling for the exits in a blind panic.

Far more boisterous and a lot less methodical than American industrialists, the quartet rushes in and around its tracks, layering bits on to a point of distraction in which chaos would come as a welcome relief. Kazuyuki K. Null of Zeni Geva produced Hatsu-Koi ("First Love"); Steve Albini attended to the studio documentation of 7-Toku. In 1996, Chicago's Mount Shasta joined up with their Japanese labelmates for a one-off release as Shakuhachi Surprise. Today marks the release of the first new songs from the No-Wave-y Kingston, New York two piece XADDAX since their debut LP "Counterclockwork" hit the bricks a few years back.

XADDAX is Nick Sakes (Dazzling Killmen, Colossamite, Sicbay) and Chrissy Rossettie Sakes (The Hex, My Name is Rar-Rar, Iyaxia) and these two tunes serve as an introduction to XADDAX v.02 - as Sakes’ jagged guitar and impassioned bark lurches across the soundscape of Rossettie’s haywire electronics, meandering synth, and frenzied drumming.

Today also marks the outing of the previously unreleased "Mr. Deer" album from MY NAME IS RAR-RAR, the woefully under-reported super group from Chicago's neo-no-wave golden age. MY NAME IS RAR-RAR sports former and future members of acts including, but not limited to The Flying Luttenbachers, Xerobot, Hella, Xaddax, Le Butcherettes and Holy Smokes. Hi All -
This is Mark filling in for news desk reporter Jazzy Joe yet again. We're already a week and some change in to the new year and there's not a second to lose - it's time to announce the first SKiN GRAFT Record in this latest (and sure to be greatest) year of our Lord - 2018 A.D.!

My Name Is RAR-RAR was a spastic Chicago no-wave band that emerged in late 2000; formed by guitarist Chuck Falzone and bassist Jonathan Hischke. Both had served time in The Flying Luttenbachers and they brought that dissonance and speed to My Name is Rar-Rar, where Falzone's odd guitar timbre snaked between Hischke's ridiculous synth-bass lines and collided with the playful tribal thump of Chrissy Rossettie.

When original singer Camilla Ha left the band, Greg Peters took over on vocals, bringing his trademark bark from his previous band Xerobot. His whoops, coughs and delusional ramblings transformed the band into a speeding circus caravan that misses a turn and tumbles over a cliff, time and time again. Peters' on-stage antics were always something to behold as he flailed about, cupping the mic to his mouth and gripping the side of his leg. The band released a split 7" with Neon Hunk, a comp track on White Denim Records and a mini-EP on an obscure Italian label. They recorded their first record in 2003 but broke up before mixing it.

Years later, Nick Sakes, founder of influential post-hardcore nightmare merchants Dazzling Killmen, and Rossettie hatched XADDAX - a kinetic, No Wave-y two piece that clashes Sakes’ jagged guitars and signature vocals across Rossettie’s worldwide web of haywire electronics, meandering synth, and frenzied drumming. Their first album, “Counterclockwork,” was released here at SKiN GRAFT Records in 2012.

Four Song Split 7" EP

The XADDAX / My Name Is RAR-RAR split 7” EP brings two new XADDAX songs together with a pair of newly mixed and mastered tracks from RAR-RAR’s final recording session. The four-song EP includes a reversible silver foil cover and full color backing card in a crystal clear, resealable 7" storage bag. The full-length CD edition also includes the previously unreleased My Name Is RAR-RAR full length album and comes in your choice of two different covers - one featuring XADDAX and another featuring My Name Is RAR-RAR (limited to 125 retail copies and with the songs sequenced differently from the XADDAX cover version!). Both CD editions and the 7" include liner notes from the host of WFMU's Cake & Polka Parade, Fatty Jubbo.
